Hygiene is the essential first step in the preparation of re-usable medical devices for disinfection. DEKO units are automatic micro-processor controlled washer-disinfector units for medical and laboratory installations such as hospital, clinic, pathology, dentistry and veterinary applications. The range includes: instrument washer and disinfection units, as well as bedpan washer and disinfection units.

Disinfection is the process normally used to decontaminate medical devices that are not intentionally invasive. Though they may be in contact with mucous membranes, blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious material. (I.e. medium – high risk items). The aim is to prevent the risk of cross- contamination during the use of these medical devices.

A further benefit of disinfection is maintenance of the “passive layer” of stainless steel. The passive layer is provided by the manufacturer of surgical stainless steel in order to prevent corrosion. Methodical, effective cleaning will maintain this passive layer.

The importance of effective disinfection procedure is highlighted by the numerous cases of infectious occurrences that have taken place due to items being improperly decontaminated. In the cleaning of medical items, thermal disinfection is the preferred method, unless the item is heat sensitive, in such case a chemical disinfection may be necessary.

Today’s range of the DEKO machines includes cabinet type instrument washer-disinfectors in four different sizes to meet the needs for optimum capacity. All models are provided with state-of-the-art Programmable Logic Control system allowing the most advanced, user-friendly possibilities for process control, verification & registration, modifications and service assistance.

All machines are front-loaded, free-standing and dimensioned to maximise the relation of occupied floor space and machine capacity. The horizontal door and retractable wash shelves design allow easy, flexible and hygienic loading/unloading without the need for fixed racks, trolleys or conveyors that require extra handling, processing and attention.
